Embracing the Detours
We also see a similar relinquishment of will in the life of Joseph whose gift and interpretation of dreams perpetuated him being sold into slavery by his own brothers. He was falsely accused of rape by Potiphar's wife and imprisoned with Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker whose dreams he interpreted. Joseph has every reason to believe God had forgotten about him until his gift makes room for him (Proverbs 18:16). In the midst of his painful efforts, he changed clothes as a precursor to becoming governor of Egypt when Pharaoh summoned him to the royal palace to interpret his dreams.
Sometimes the thing(s) we're vehemently in pursuit of are temporarily delayed either because of our motives, warped perceptions and oftentimes unsurrendered areas in our lives. In hindsight, the purpose of a detour (something that takes us away from the preplanned route or unexpected encounters) is to develop us for the destiny that's waiting for us to maturely arrive. In Ecclesiastes 5:3 it says that "For a dream comes about with much business and painful effort, and a fool’s voice with many words." You see, when God's getting ready to move you to the next spiritual level he prunes the unprofitable area(s) whose incubation period is overdue. Unequivocally, most detours occur when construction is taking place. Keeping in mind, how we respond determines how long we linger in the detour and blocked accessing the blessing. In other words, there's nothing worse than being somewhere and not be ready. To have access to the platform and not be mature or surrendered enough to help someone else -- not to have a word in season. Really......
I want to encourage and provoke you to ponder an incontrovertible truth -- no matter where we are in the process the power of God is always perfected in our weaknesses; illuminating our unashamed dependence and neediness of Him. Learn to see distractions as perspective lifters; divine detours enabling you to view life from God's perspective, not yours. Today, declare by faith every limitation broken off in Jesus Mighty Name! For the velocity in which you surrender the unsurrendered areas of your life and embrace the sufficiency of God's Grace, the sooner you will be HEALED WITHOUT SCARS at the ROOT.
